STRESS AND THE ADRENAL GLANDS

We live in a time where stress, one kind or another, is just a part of life.  Stressful stimuli, either emotional or physical, can cause the hypothalamus (in the brain) to activate the adrenal medulla.

The adrenal glands, which sits on top of each kidney are one of the main controls of the below functions of the body.

1.    Kidneys
2.    Heart
3.    Blood Vessels
4.    Lungs
5.    Digestion and Gastro-intestinal function
6.    Immune system
7.    Bone formation
8.    Inflammation and wound healing

The weakness caused in the Adrenal glands due to stress is very far reaching and extremely serious with regard to the function of the body.  Emotional stress is crippling and killing more and more people every year.

Stress to the Adrenal glands due to over activity of the glands from external sources e.g. food, chemicals leads to the same end.  Some of these stressors are –

1.    UV Rays from the sun
2.    Cigarettes
3.    Drugs
4.    Caffeine
5.    Ham, pork, Bacon
6.    Overwork
7.    Chemicals

Smoking, elevated levels of fats Cholesterol and hypertension (Adrenal gland stress) are known to increase the number of atherosclerotic plaques in the aorta and coronary arteries.
Our bodies are the products (weaknesses and strengths) of our past generations, as well as our own efforts or neglect.

Question – Can the health of the Adrenal glands be returned?

Answer – Because our body is continually renewing itself, the health of the body can increase in health and strength.  How? -  by helping this renewing process to happen properly.
